Boro — ぼろ 襤褸
BORO in Japanese refers to the tradition of mending and patching old and tattered fabric textiles, such as garments or bedding which have been patched or repaired, using fragments or oddments of cloth. Boro textiles originate from the Edo period, 1603 – 1955, through to the middle of the Showa period in Japanese history.
At KOBO A–B, we provide workshops on BORO with a historical overview followed by an introduction to the BORO process. We are currently planning new dates and locations for Spring, Summer and Autumn ’24, watch out for announcements.
